David Kibuuka a comedian, born and raised in Uganda, but has been living in SA for several years now. You can expect some cross-border humour from this funny man. David Kibuuka is undeniably, one of the young talents of South African comedy. A graduated Finance Honours student with Wits University, “Dave” has a unique brand of humour that combines wit and intellect without losing touch with his audiences. He broke into the comedy world when he won 5FM’s Freshest Five nationwide comedy talent search competition and he hasn’t looked back since. 2008 saw him opening for one of the top comedians in the world in Australia’s top comedian Carl Barron on his South Africa Tour. He has an enviable body of television and film work including having played the lead in the hit local movie Bunny Chow which won awards worldwide and was recently chosen as the featured lead on SABC 3’s popular travel programme – Going Nowhere Slowly. David can already boast of having performed at some of the biggest comedy events on the local comedy calendar. A very young David shared the stage with names like John Vlismas, Kagiso Lediga, Riaad Moosa and David Kau as well as a cluster of international comedic acts in the first Kingsize Comedy Festival. Such was his performance, that he was invited to perform again the following year. “Mr Kibuuka – the only, foreign African comedian in the country – often likes to play on his outsider status to hold a mirror up to his adoptive nation and make jokes about things that other comics might ignore or avoid.” Andrew Harding, BBC Africa Correspondent. So after working the Geriatric Circuit for a couple of summers his destiny was settled. Since then, that little funny boy with the faith of a PLANET has made a name for himself as one of the leading comedians and On-Air Personalities in the Country by headlining across North America (including Canada), New Zealand, The U.K. and Africa.
